Illness Cancellation Policy

For everyone’s well-being and because illness spreads rapidly, it is imperative to follow the Green Box illness policy. We reserve the right to send a child home or end an in-home therapy session, if your child is too sick to actively participate in a meaningful therapy session.

If your child displays symptoms of illness (described below), you will be notified. If an office-based session, your child will be isolated from other children (in the lobby or an unoccupied room under the supervision of a staff member) and will need to be picked up as soon as possible (ideally, within 30 minutes). If a home session, the therapist may leave before the scheduled end of therapy.

Symptoms that would require cancelling the session include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Oral temperature above 99.6 degrees.

  • Conjunctivitis (pink eye), if considered contagious.

  • Impetigo, MRSA, or any other skin disease, until treatment has begun and a doctor has released.

  • Scabies, until treated.

  • Head lice, until first treatment with removal of all nits.

  • Vomiting or diarrhea with or without fever.

  • Discharging eyes or ears, or has profuse nasal drainage or congestion

  • Ringworm, until treatment has begun.

  • Undiagnosed rash, if fever is present or open skin sores

  • Viral eye infections, until physician allows return (note required).

  • Chicken pox, for six days from appearance of vesicles or until all vesicles have scabbed.

  • A positive culture for Streptococcal throat infection (Strep Throat), until client has had at least 24 hours of appropriate treatment and is without a fever.

  • A contagious state of any communicable disease.
